Who we are

Project TBI is led by and for people with lived experience of traumatic brain injury (TBI) many of whom also navigate disability, trauma, and neurodivergence. Our team brings together survivors, caregivers, and advocates who know firsthand the challenges of life after brain injury and the resilience it takes to keep rebuilding.

🎙 Real Voices, Real Stories

We amplify authentic survivor perspectives through in-depth interviews, personal narratives, and case studies. These real-world stories highlight the wide range of experiences after brain injury—from daily triumphs to systemic barriers—grounding our mission in lived reality and shared humanity.

Our Mission & Values

  • Center survivor leadership: People with lived experience guide everything we do—across content creation, advocacy, and community building.

  • Increase visibility: Share diverse TBI journeys to expand public understanding and challenge stereotypes.

  • Facilitate connection: Offer survivors and families a platform to see themselves reflected, be heard, and connect with others navigating similar paths.

  • Advocate for change: Use our collective stories to inform policy, support services, and public perception.

Why We’re Unique

While many brain injury groups exist, Project TBI is unique in being truly survivor‑driven—not just focused on survivors, but led by them. This lived-experience foundation shapes our content, approach, and priorities in ways that traditional organizations can’t emulate

What We Do

  • Publish survivor-led interviews: Firsthand conversations—highlighting the variety of post-injury journeys.

  • Share in-depth case studies: Documenting real challenges (e.g., access to accommodations, managing work or relationships) and pathways to resilience.

  • Host peer-driven discussions: Forums where survivors and neurodivergent individuals can share resources and support.

  • Inform advocacy: Equip survivors with personal narratives to influence policymakers, medical professionals, and public institutions.

Our Community

Our members include survivors of concussion, moderate, and severe TBI, plus those navigating intersecting identities—such as disability, trauma-related conditions, and neurodivergence. Together, we form a dynamic, supportive, intersectional network.

Our Vision

We envision a world where people with acquired brain injuries are valued, heard, represented, and empowered. Where our stories shape care systems, policy decisions, and cultural understanding. A world where living after brain injury isn’t defined by limitations—but by recognition, inclusion, and possibility.
